How can we trust you ANet? It's not as if this update is anything new in terms of your attitude towards farmers, it was just the one that went too far. I'm more inclined to believe that "the number guys in suits" made the call for the semi-retraction than the developers or Gaile.

Matter of fact, I'm skeptical that the retraction was even made! Sure you "said" you were going to change the drop rate back to normal but you also "said" that you're not against farming and every major update since release has been aimed at crippling farming.

Also, why are we all smiling that ANet realized their error and chose to fix only part of the problem they caused? It's not really good news if your doctor first tells you that you have AIDS but comes back a day later and tells you not to worry, you just have cancer.....especially if the doctor was the one that injected you with both.

Guild Wars cheated on a lot of us and didn't even apologize or atone for it. It's a trust issue now and I'll only be forgiving once they look to make full amends, not these silly half-measures that seem to have pacified the lot of you.

Listening and doing what exactly?

DoA was pretty lame, now all they've done is make DoA everywhere and take away pretty much any method of acquiring high end armor. I myself don't consider that fun. I feel bad for all the people who were in the process of saving for their armor.

I have a tidy sum stashed for GW:EN, but I still loved farming for no real reason. It's like solving a puzzle, how to get the most out of your effort. Why people started posting builds after spending the time solving them I will never understand. Now killing 80 margonites yields 3 whites and a pile of 50 gold. We have PVP, PVE missions and quests with generic garbage rewards, then title grinding.... "yay". I really wanna spend 800 hours clearing every last mob in every zone when half of them can single shot a monk.

They didn't really improve the AI. They gave them full skill sets and jacked up their level. People are impressed with spiking for some reason, all they do is make them pick a single target. That's not revolutionary. Our heroes still charge head on into a pack of 50 mobs like Braveheart.

This isn't a new experience, it's the same boring one that DoA presented. It doesn't feel fun anymore, it feels like work. If I wanted to work, I'd get paid for it. I think it's time for a new game.

You paid them so that you could access their servers, they don't owe you anything. But could you at least think first? Players threatened to leave because they couldn't farm in the way that they liked (but besides being too lazy to find out how much it had changed...) so a very very very big thread in Riverside Inn, followed by a bunch of other threads, began. This pulled in the attention of Anet, who had to take drastic action, because if such players left, then there would be less potential people going in to buy GW:EN. The decision was majorly influenced by the community, not buy some suits.

Hard Mode was supposed to be an implementation so that the overall population could better enjoy the game - which I can agree to because I like Hard Mode. Unfortunately, a lot of farmers who disapproved of the idea have talented posting skills... The latest update was solely for them simply because they made the effort to voice their opinion (or threat thereof) to have the change made. So in that perspective, Anet have ears. It might not be something to show-off, but it's a feature a lot of MMO's don't have.

You don't need to trust Anet, not at all. You just need to make sure that you're having fun playing their game. If you're not, then voice-up and say so. What you don't do is make baseless accusations towards a company who know more about their own business than you do.

Having complained alot (well I'm not banned so I don;t think I did anything too bad ^^), I say sorry and thanks, Anet

You really proved me wrong about the farming issue, and finally we know the long-unknown secret evil reasons of the farm nerfs.

Even though I'm not 100% happy, you tried, and you can't make everyone happy so... gj

This is why I have been a loyal customer the past 2 years. When something that goes wrong, you guys listen and understand the consumer's point of view. Thanks for making Guild Wars one of the best gaming experiences of my life.

Sincerely,

Congrats on successfully bending ANet to your will, boys. Can you teach us how you did it, so next time a new Ritualist class pops up in PvP we can get it fixed in a matter of hours?

I think this is a positive improvement on the update from yesterday.

Unfortunately some people will never be happy and i've already been witness to a few people complaining that this isn't exactly what they want. I don't think some people realise what a delicate balance it is to cripple the people abusing things and still allow your everyday gamer to achieve what they want.

its one thing to make it possible for the gamers to archive something, just giving it to them is another thing....

don't know why you're all so happy. in the end, all they did was make all the white, blue, and purple drops almost as rare as getting a gold or dye.

you think botters are the only ones who farm for collectables, salvage items, and gold? jeez, real smart.

Yeahm but it's better than getting no drops at all, like the case was yesterday. At least A-net tried to help, and I appreciate it. The question is, how long will it take before players have bunches of gold weapons that they can't sell, because nobody has normal cash for it?

They improved stuff for farmers, but not (yet) for the casual player that farms to provide himself with the basic equipment. Ohh, and they'll never stop bots, unless they stop nerfing the reasons, and start looking on how to recognise bots.

My idea for bots is: Find routines in the troll cave that go on and on and on and on. 200 people walking the EXACT same route, stopping at the EXACT same places and doing the EXACT same things at the EXACT same time are most likely bots. How about letting a warning pop up for these at random places on the screen, and if they don't click it, they get banned.

If someone happens to follow the EXACT same routine as a bot by accident (can't see how that could happen, though :P), he can still press on 'ok' for the warning, and confirm he's a real player.

Congrats to Anet for listening (and averting the seemingly neverending spike in Ecto prices, among other things). Whether this update is enough to restore the game for casual players who farm occasionally remains to be seen. If you'll excuse me I have an appointment with some trolls

Toda A-net

And for everyone who was against this, just start farming once in while, its easy and doable just as the pro farmer.

So someone who goes AFK gets banned because they stopped in the wrong place? No thanks.

Wouldn't it be more simple (and less likely to affect innocent players) for Anet to do what other online game companies (e.g. Blizzard) do with the 'bot problem' - catch the bots and ban them? Or go on to a gold purchasing site, make a puchase (just chargeback to get the money back from them later) and then ban whoever turns up to give them the gold?

I don't care about bots. They don't bother me and I don't bother them. Can we please move past this mentality that it is OK to punish the masses just because of the few. How much have we all had to endure in this never-ending quest to eliminate something that has relatively no impact on the rest of us.

More related to the topic, please give me an instance in another part of your life whereby someone does wrong, doesn't apologize and only goes halfway towards resolving the problem they caused and you gush and thank them for it?

If the IRS screws a bunch of people out of $100 and then finally has to give in because of all the complaints but only gives you back $50, would you thank them?

Tell me again how this is not some guy in a suit seeing the bottom line numbers (ie sales) decreasing and thus making the call to reverse the "update"? Sure the community has influence but the suits are the ones being influenced and they're calling the shots. Do us both a favor and come up with a reason for why you chose to quote my entire post and then write 3 paragraphs that have nothing to do with it.
